Grand Bahama Academy (GBA) is a private K-12 educational institution located in Freeport, Grand Bahama. Our school is owned and operated by the North Bahamas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, a non-profit organization. The school has been in existence since 1981. During this period, we have undergone many transformations in our spiritual, academic, and social programs.

Grand Bahama Academy's mandate and mission is to produce nation builders who are equipped spiritually and academically, as they develop a loving relationship with Jesus. Our 38 years of operation has seen the institution maintain a path of academic excellence by producing top achievers in all external national examinations within the Bahamas. We have also witnessed the lives of students being transformed as they enter into a saving relationship with Jesus.

On September 1-3, 2019, our island, Grand Bahama Island was ravaged by hurricane Dorian. The most devastating hurricane in its history. Our school family and communities have been severely impacted by this disaster. As a result, we are experiencing a significant decrease in our enrollment. Parents have migrated because of the loss of property, employment, and personal belongings. Student enrollment and monetary aid from our churches in the Abaco and Grand Bahama districts are our major sources of financial aid. School organized yearly fundraisers are also required. As a result of the extensive devastation to these islands, the realization of the proposed funding of our school’s budget will prove to be extremely challenging.

We determinedly reopened our doors on September 18, 2019, realizing that God is using our school through His Spirit to transform lives. The “Flames” of Grand Bahama Academy will continue to blaze brightly, but we need your generous support!
